Duralock Sponsors the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials
We’ve just got back from a fabulous four days in the Oxfordshire countryside! Granted, it’s only a ten minute drive away from the Duralock office, but working from a green field surrounded by galloping horses and HUNDREDS of dogs passing by every hour was a world apart! And not to mention, this view…
We were proud to be a sponsor of this well-renowned show in which competitors from both here in Great Britain and from across the seas take part in the three eventing disciplines: dressage, show-jumping and cross-country. The Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is set in the beautiful grounds of (do we need to say it…) Blenheim Palace! The rolling gardens and grazing fields that comprise the Estate have been transformed into the cross-country course, show-jumping and dressage arenas, making the event a roaring success for the last 25 years (give or take that 1 year when it had to be called off due the fields being transformed into mud baths courtesy of the Great British weather!).
The build up to the event started for us with the installation of a fair amount of our white post and rail system around the trot-up area and also down the long drive to safely separate the horses from the visitors! Our installation team worked solidly installing the temporary system, along with an arena and a dog agility arena in the trade-stand village. Picket fence was also installed around the VIP and member area!

This was the second year that we at Duralock had been invited to sponsor the event, so we were pretty familiar with the format of the long weekend and we were really looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing some new friendly faces pop by our stand; which was conveniently located right beside the Blenheim Arena (a brilliant view not only of the great demonstrations on offer, but also a fantastic example of Duralock’s finest post and 3 rail!).

And so it began! An early start on Thursday saw us arrive at the Duralock stand ready to represent! For about an hour, the people that seemed to be wandering around were mainly bed-headed exhibitors who had just woken up fresh from their camps behind the stalls to face the world! Coffees in hand, they plodded back to their stands, primed to face the general public (the perks of living in the area started to show at this point!). After this though, the foot-fall started to grow and when the music kicked in at the Attractions Arena, people flocked over to watch the amazing demonstrations and displays of horsemanship! This began with an excellent show from side-saddle group, ‘A Bit on the Side’. We watched from our convenient position as the ladies galloped around the arena and jumped the poles in the traditional ladies’ style.
As the event went on, the Attractions Arena became extremely popular! We loved seeing so many people leaning against the fencing, some knocking on it and then pointing towards our stand and wandering over for a chat about our PVC fencing systems and how it would be the perfect thing for their own yards…. it was really making an impression!

Other great shows that we witnessed in the arena included training demonstrations, a ‘meet the hounds’ section with the Heythrop Hunt, Shetland pony agility, ‘A Bit on the Side’ performing a routine to Star Wars music in full costume (horse and all!) and a demonstration of bareback riding by Grace Taylor of Aston-le-Walls Equestrian Centre, of which we are also sponsors, and many, many more!

Overall the event was a roaring success! It was great to see such a fantastic turn-out of all ages and see the true interest and absolute ability in equestrianism right in our back-garden (nearly!). It was a true pleasure to meet so many people who paid our stand a visit at the show and took the time to come and have a chat and see what we do here at Duralock!
